Importing Luxology Modo's compound 3d model
I was wondering, what's the best approach of 3d model creation assuming it's constructed of several parts (for example a car, that is comprised of a body, hood, wheels). I'm using Luxology Modo for 3d content creation, so it would be great having the answer related with this tool. Of course as for the separate object parts (like a car wheel) I would like to have the possibility designing them around the world origin. After importing them to Unity it would be great having them automatically re-positioned to their proper spot within the object.

In Luxology Modo there is a possibility of creating the object, with it's parts, in a hierarchical manner ('n' keyboard shortcut adds a new mesh node, which then can be re-parented correctly, like wheel to the chassis). Then all the nodes within the hierarchy, which represents object's parts like wheel, hood etc, can have their position, rotation etc properly adjusted in relation to their parent objects. This is done by moving and rotating ('w' and 'e' shortcut respectively) while having 'Item' ('5' shortcut) selection on the object. The complete object created that way is imported to Unity with all the hierarchy tree preserved.
