is there a way i can make a game object destroy itself pixel by pixel frame by frame

i want to try to make a bonus level in in my racing game where the track is falling apart and if you dont outrun the track then gameover

You'd have to render the object to a RenderTexture so it becomes a Texture, and then you can change the colors of the pixels. If it's a 2D game with sprites, it becomes a little bit easier of course since the objects are already rendered as sprites.

If you wanted 3d effects,physics and complete control over it You could have a multiple quads to make up your image then throw,fade or whatever with each quad or have a cube that has like 20 smaller cubes in it to make up the object then do whatever with the 20 cubes, however this might be demanding on resources you could to reduce demand on the resources by using static batching and mesh combine , then when player gets near un combine mesh and de static I hope this might help
