How To Declear A Global Varible?

This question must seem really dumb, but I'm pretty new to unity so any help I can get would be greatly appreciated :)

How do you declare a global variable in JS? I have the following variable :

 public var walking = false;

but it only wants to work in one of my script files, and nowhere else. How do I make my variable walking Global?
