Is there any way to change a scene while Handheld.PlayFullScreenMovie is playing a movie?

I'm using Handheld.PlayFullScreenMovie for a cutscene. When Unity resumes I want to have made changes to my scene, but my understanding is that Handheld.PlayFullScreenMovie pauses Unity completely and no code will run while the movie is playing. Am I stuck with fade to black, play movie, fade in to new scene, or is there another way?
