Unity Crashes on my new laptop

i've just downloaded unity 4.2 and install it on the new laptop. and when i open up a project it crashes. it says that editor has stopped working... any ideas why is this happening? here are the specs of my laptop.. windows 8 Intel Core i7-4700MQ Processor NVIDIA Geforce GT740M 2G GDDR3
