Question by oren · Jan 15, 2012 at 12:29 PM · slowlaptop

,everything is so slow

i'm running unity on a new core i5 8Gb ram laptop with win 7 64bit, and as soon as the scene loads or even as soon as i place something like a cube in a new scene, everything goes insanely slow. selecting takes about a minute, navigation is impossible. i have tried both unity 3.5 and 3.4.2f3 and both respond the same. (other 3D software like maya and 3ds max run without a care in the world) please help. thanks. Oren.

also should be noted, that for some reason, menus are very responsive, and i can access them regardless of everything else.

Figured it out. ATI catalyst is the problem, i switched it from "high performance" to "energy saving" (!?!?) and it fixed everything... :/,figured it out. it happens if you set ATI catalyst on "high performance" when for some reasonit only works when it's on "energy saving" (?!?!?)

I've heard a question about unit being really slow before, it may be that you don't have windows 64 bit selected in the unity menu, but if not I would reinstall.

I had the exact same problem, unity3d interface was unresponsive. I have a laptop with hybrid graphic system ( Intel and Radeon). Setting the unity.exe to energy saving on the catalyst control center solved the problem for me.

Looks like Unity has issues scaling itself with high-end graphic system. You should report a bug.
