Partial occlusion?(Not render object while inside a certain zone)

Greetings,

Is there any way to achieve a partial occlusion of an object? More precisely, I want an object to be not rendered when at a specific place.

Why? My boss is throwing long projectiles, I want to give the feeling they come out of her hand. So it most be invisible while behind her.
