Text based online MMO possible?
Hello Unity3d Community. I'm scouring the web to find the best possible engine for an idea i've been trying to develop. Help would be much appreciated!
Would it be possible to design an interactive text-based mmo rpg with minimal supporting graphics using Unity3d? Where could I get a working multiplayer server? The closest thing would be a MUD server. Are there any alternatives for the multiplayer server or would a new one have to be designed?
Some features would be:
Certain words of the text would change colors or font according to environmental triggers, or player triggers.
Able to use touch interface to swipe certain words in a paragraph to dislodge it and move it around.
A multiplayer chatroom
A lobby screen to connect to different "worlds" or "servers".
Able to save character progress on a server.
Offline notification.
Sorry if this question is a little fuzzy... I'm kind of feeling my way through right now.
Thanks all!
Not sure if this will help but I saw an $$anonymous$$$$anonymous$$O tutorial on the Unity wiki, see if that works for you:
