Question by Tea_Doogun · Jul 10, 2012 at 09:30 PM · movementblendershootinganimation problem

Character has free movement when 'shooting'

(x-posted to blenderartists.org)

Hello again you wonderfully helpful people!

I have a rigged humaniod player-character in blender who is going to be imported to Unity3D.

It will be a 2D platform game with 3D models.

He shoots in the direction of where the mouse clicks (on the 2D plane), but i want his body to change accordingly.

When he is running forwards and shooting behind him, i want him to twist his waist and point the gun in that direction. When he shoots upward, i want him to point his gun into the air.

I'm assuming (and hoping) that i don't have to assign an animation for every single possible angle that he can point his gun. Is there an easier way?

Maybe something where the armature is restrained in it's movement (so it moves realisticly) and when you click a point to shoot at with the mouse, the character moves the gun toward that direction as far as it can go, and the rest of the rig moves accordingly.

Where do i begin?

If i haven't explained this clearly enough, please let me know and i'll delete this post and try again.

Thank you, Tom :)
