How to get the version of monodevelop from unity4.2.2 on unity 4.3
I just upgraded to the newer version of unity and see that they shipped it with a new version of monodevelop (4.01 i believe). I absolutely hate this new version (the fact that i cant make the window smaller than 3/4 of the width of my screen pissed me off and i dont like the new interface, i would like a compile button) is there any way to use the old version working with unity 4.3?
Yes: just don't install the new version of $$anonymous$$onoDevelop. You have a choice with what to install during said process.

I installed Mono Development 4.2 (from the Mono Develop site and changed Unity to load it in Unity->Preferences->External Tools->External Script Editor.
If you could find (or extract) the older version of Mono Development from somewhere: You could uninstall the current Mono Development; install the older version of Mono Development, and then just point Unity to use it in the External Script Editor drop down menu.
You can also use other editors the same way.
I liked he older version of Mono Develop as well, if someone else knew where I could get the older version(s) of Mono Develop that would be great.

EDIT: UPDATED SOLUTION:
I couldn't find any install options for Mono Develop when installing Unity 4.3 on my Mac Book Pro running Maverick. I had options to install Unity, Unity Web Player, and the Demo Project, but no option to install or not install Mono Develop.
So, here's what I did that finally worked: Step 1: I uninstalled Unity 4.3. Step 2: Installed Unity 4.2.2f. Step 3: I moved Mono Develop out of the Unity folder to a temporary location. Step 4: I installed Unity 4.3. Step 5: I deleted the new Mono Develop. Step 6: I moved the old Mono Develop into the Unity folder (Not necessary, but I like it there. Step 7: I loaded Unity, then in Unity went to Unity->Preferences->External Tools->External Script Editor->Browse-> [Old] Mono Develop.
So far so good, but I haven't worked with it much to be sure.
Hope it helps!
Simply do what Ben mentions above :)
The $$anonymous$$ono that comes with Unity is modified for use with Unity, so be careful using Non-unity versions, which may cause issues!
Thanks so much, It worked. Good thing I didnt delete the old install file :)
Worked for me! I simply did what Ben suggested. This totally made my day. Happiness consists of little joys:-) I too have lost patience with the new mono.
You can find installers of older versions of unity here: http://unity3d.com/unity/download/archive
Just uninstall your current unity with mono, install 4.2.2 with mono and then install newest unity without mono.
I have a problem,i've done this and now $$anonymous$$onoDevelop's pidb files are generated in my asset folder ins$$anonymous$$d of project folder. This happens on any project i open and it's supper annoying. Even reinstalling doesn't help and it now happens on new monoDevelop too... i am clueless, any help?

Little simpler than the other answers:
-Rename (or remove) your MonoDevelop folder ( e.g. c:\monodevelop)
-Install a temporary older version of Unity 4.0 ( e.g. c\:\unitytemp )
-Delete temporary version...
Your other Unity 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 versions will be unchanged. http://unity3d.com/unity/download/archive
