Instantiated object has the scale of the old object that was distroied
OK i am making a pulse that emanates every so often, enlarges and fades away. but every new pulse that gets instantiated is just as large as the original that faded away already... so do you unlink and item from its prefab so that the scale changes don't effect later instantiations?

Are you doing something like this ?
public GameObject Prefab;
...
Instantiate(Prefab);
Prefab.localScale = someScale;
If that happens to be the case you should try it like this :
GameObject instanciatedObject = Instantiate(Prefab);
instanciatedObject.localScale = someScale;
