What to do about a Pixel crushers dialogue template file screw up?

Today I bought The Pixel Crushers Dialogue System. I tried to open the template file in Unity, and it didn't work. I thought maybe if I tried to open the file itself with Unity, then that would solve the problem. What program should I use to open it? Are my file conversions off? I have re-downloaded and re-imported several times... Sorry guys, I'm kind of new at this. Any ideas?
