Applying Texture to Sphere

I have created a sphere mesh, and I want to texture it. When I drag the texture directly it becomes one solid color on the mesh. When I apply a material to it, it just looks strange.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us First is the textured mesh, second is material mesh, last one is the sphere primitive using the material.

I might be missing it, but what's wrong?

Like Justin said, what's the problem? Looking strange isn't really enough of a discription to go off, if you went to the doctor and said my sphincter looks strange and showed him a picture of your ass do you think he could just tell you what was wrong with it?lol

Lol... Such a weird way of putting it, but yes... Show us what it is SUPPOSED to look like, and show us the properties... Screenshots do wonders =).

I would say you forgot to unwrap your mesh!

I don't understand how to do it using scripting in Unity. Any examples?
