Chrome displaying new tab page instead of game

After creating my game I published it through the build settings as a web player, I did not change any of the settings. I then went to open the link and it appears with a new tab page that does not load. My computer uses Windows 7 and I am using the latest version of Google chrome. I then tried to build and run my game, which made the page appear however the file could not run, even though i had already installed the unity player. I tried to give it permission to run but it did not work. I don't understand what to do? why is it doing this?
