Question by FPSworrior · Oct 25, 2013 at 05:02 PM · animationmodeladd

Making an animation with a pre-made model.

I got the FPScontrol from the asset store and I was wondering if it is possisble to give him more animations. Like if I wanted to give the player more animations, is that even possible to do?

I don't know much about FPScontrol, but certainly you can add animations to a model if it is set up properly such that Mecanim can recognize the joints and create a rig. You may want to watch the Mecanim tutorial:

Well what I was more thinking is taking the model and maybe putting him into a modeling software and giving him more animations. Would that be possible?

Sure that's possible. You could use $$anonymous$$aya (or something analogous) to that end. But why not use $$anonymous$$ecanim?

If I use $$anonymous$$ecanim could I keep the animations on my guy, and add new ones? And using $$anonymous$$ecanim wouldn't I have to use a script to make the guy move, and do the right animations? I don't know how to script that. But I guess this will work because I can always learn how to do the scripting part.

Yes, you're on the right track. I found that by going through the entire $$anonymous$$ecanim tutorial that it was quite helpful and I think you'll find it will answer your questions. :)
