Question by Dracorat · Oct 29, 2013 at 07:15 AM · unity 4.2uvslightwave

UV Export from Lightwave 10

(Note: I cannot upgrade to LW 11 as I don't have the funds to do such a thing)

I'm at my wits end trying to expert a simple UV map from Lightwave 10 to Unity. I have tried OBJ, FBX, COLLADA in both Modeler and Layout.

Yet, it seems Lightwave won't actually export the UVs. I'm hoping someone else has a LW -> Unity workflow going on.

I have a LW object. (Which you're free to download to see what I've done here: http://dracorat.com/transfer/Button%203%20x%2012%20x%201.lwo )

It's pretty simple. It has a total of 26 faces.

I have made a test texture to see it. (Here: http://dracorat.com/transfer/Button%203%20x%2012%20x%201%20Test.psd )

Here are some images of it in LightWave: http://dracorat.com/transfer/LWButtonScene.png http://dracorat.com/transfer/LWButtonScene2.png

When I export in any format and then open in Unity, all I get is a shaded object, even when I make sure to assign the material...

I've ensured that there's a surface object in LightWave and assigned the UV to the "T" under the "Color" shader in LightWave before the export. I've also tried exporting from Layout instead of Modeler. No dice any way I slice it.

I just cannot get my UVs out of LightWave.

I installed LightWave v9 and it exported the first time. Same process.
