How do I adjust the speed of an animation when preparing a CMU Motion Capture in Blender 2.68?
I already found the answer while looking at other solutions posted but they were in response to unrelated questions so I decided to create my own question.
I found the best method is to use the time map settings in Blender 2.68. There are two numeric values under the fps drop-down in the Dimension settings. These appear to basically set a ratio of source to destination that effectively removes (or adds) frames to speed up/down the animation. For instance the CMU motion captures all appear to be in slow-motion unless you either bump the fps to 60 or play around with the time map options. I used 17 to 1 in the Time Map settings, for instance, which results in a natural looking animation that works well in Unity. The exact number appears to vary (sometimes 15 to 1, 10 to 2, but it's not hard to change the values until you get an animation you like. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to remove all the frames that aren't used in the resulting FBX export. I have to adjust the animation end point but it's really no different than cleaning up any other imported Animation.
