What does SDK mean?

Hi guys I saw this thread here:

Where he says you need to

Download the latest iphone SDK and install it

But what is this?

SDK means Software Development Kit, an information that Google and/or Wikipedia would have very gladly given you... and it is only tangentially related to Unity...
