Just double click a script in Unity and it should open $$anonymous$$onodevelop... You can't use the version of monodevelop that's not distributed by Unity, Unity's version is customized for Unity.

Wait, you ask how to use a texteditor? o.O Because that's all i can read in the title and the title says all, right?

currently you have to use monodevelop 4 with unity and i am asking how to change it so i can use 3.0.6 because i hate the new look of 4.

Oh, in that case, just uninstall $$anonymous$$onodevelop, download a pre 4.3 version of Unity, run the installer and just install $$anonymous$$onodevelop from it.

You'll be missing a lot of the code completion for newer functions, like all the 2D stuff and a few other small things, but if that doesn't matter, then yeah.
