Character controller just spinning.

I've been on break from Unity for a while, I've been using Unreal so I have no experience with Unity 5.

I'm trying to make a top down 3D game with basic controls, just AD rotates and WD goes forward and backwards. My problem is that the character controller I have only spins, I'm trying to learn how to use the new included Character Controller that attaches to game objects. This is my player controller script, and all it does is rotate when I press A or D and I feel like the Simplemove function isn't working properly. I've never made a character controller like this before, all the ones I've made on Unity used rigidbodys and applied physics to move it.

Here is my player gameobject.

Here is my main camera.

If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong any help would be great, it's probably something super small but I'm used to the blueprint system now and I have no practice with the updated Unity.
