Scene not playing

Hello,

I'm following through the Penelope tutorial, and have built my character (positioned above a plane). When viewing the Game window I can see the two joysticks, the player and plane. However, when i press the play button all I can see is the two joysticks (which do work when testing via Unity Remote, but that's by-the-by) - the plane and player disappear.

Is this something to do with the camera? The camera preview window (when viewed in the Scene view) looks like it's set up correctly as I can see my game objects within it.
