Can we use assets purchased from the store elsewhere?
If I purchased an asset from the store could I use resources within the asset elsewhere? For example, if I purchased a texture pack could I then use the textures outside of Unity (i.e. another game engine)?

I think this says it all (in legalese)
http://unity3d.com/company/legal/as_terms
END-USER's Rights and Obligations
2.1
END-USER may use the licensed Assets only for their intended purpose.
2.2
Licensor grants to the END-USER a non-exclusive, worldwide, and perpetu- al license to the Asset to integrate Assets only as incorporated and embed- ded components of electronic games and interactive media and distribute such electronic game and interactive media. END-USER may otherwise not reproduce, distribute, sublicense, rent, lease or lend the Assets. It is emphasized that the END-USERS shall not be entitled to distribute or transfer in any way (including, without, limitation by way of sublicense) the Assets in any other way than as integrated components of electronic games and inter- active media. Without limitation of the foregoing it is emphasized that END- USER shall not be entitled to share the costs related to purchasing an Asset and then let any third party that has contributed to such purchase use such Asset (forum pooling).
So it looks to me like as long as its embedded in a game (note, this does not specify a Unity-based game?) you can. But I wouldn't think they mean you could use it on, say, your web site, or T-shirts or whatever.
$$anonymous$$y intention is to use it in another game, I like the support for the Asset Store but I need more than what Unity offers. I'm glad they are alright with this.
$$anonymous$$ust be something way serious then if Unity won't support it!
Well, Unity Free doesn't support Oculus Rift because you can't include DLLs. I wanted to just mess around with it so I need to use UD$$anonymous$$ ins$$anonymous$$d.
A fair point, yep Free isn't so useful for that kind of thing.

You should read the terms yourself: http://unity3d.com/company/legal/as_terms or have a lawyer look at them if you are concerned.
My interpretation is:
You may ONLY use the assets in a computer game or interactive media product, without express permission granted by the publisher.
Specifically you may not create (or distribute) them as a derivative work.
There is no restriction on only using them inside Unity.
