Unity 4.2.1 crashes during importing small assets on Windows 8
Unity 4.2.1 crashes during importing small assets on Windows 8 every time I open it... It works well on Windows 7, but not on Windows 8 (tried on 2 different computers with Windows 8 (Czech version)).
EN translation of error message: Application Unity Editor stopped working. Windows system can search for solution of the problem online. - Find online solution and exit the application - Exit the application.
When I show details of the problem, it says the problem is in ntdll.dll.
Windows Event Viewer says: Missing module: ntdll.dll version 6.2.9200.16578
I really need to use Windows 8 for Unity, because it allows to compile Win Phone 8 and Win Store apps only from Win 8.
I have the same problem, Now I am downloading the 4.2, hope it will work

Solved - I've installed Unity 4.1.5 and then updated to 4.2.2 and it's working well now!

May not be Windows 8, I've been using every release of Unity 4.x under W8 without issues. Did you tried running it on compatibility mode, just in case? Or opening a blank/new project?

Unity editor, right-clicked, selected "Run with graphics processor," and clicked "Change default graphics processor..." In the window that popped up, I changed it from integrated graphics to the dedicated graphics card.
