Import Packages - Characters
First things first, I've started using Unity 5 at the beginning of the week. So even though I'm an avid techno-geek and I know my way around somethings, my learning curve is still somewhat slow, so please bear with me <3
Now, I have two questions and with the hope that I can keep this one thread open and continuously feed questions on it, it would be appreciated and of great help if you guys would come back to see if there's new questions that I need help with!
If this thread doesn't belong quite in this subforum, feel free to move it to where it belongs. I couldn't seem to find any other place well-suited than the HELP subforum.
FIRST: Upon importing packages from Characters, every toturial shows the First Person, Rollerball and the Third Person subfolder in the Standard Asset Folder you receive upon decompression. First Person folder doesn't appear for me. I've read that there's an alternative in the Asset Store for free but I cannot seem to find it either. Anyone know of a fix or the name of a good simple first person asset?
SECOND: Seeing as first person didn't work, I tried fiddling with the third person while watching a tutorial for it. The video doesn't show any scripting involved and the person makes it seem that you don't need any if its just for walking around your map. Upon placing my third person prefab, grouping my main camera on the hierarchy and setting it right, when I click play, these two error follows:
Assets/Standard Assets/Characters/RollerBall/Scripts/BallUserControl.cs(3,27): error CS0234: The type or namespace name
CrossPlatformInput' does not exist in the namespace
UnityStandardAssets'. Are you missing an assembly reference?Assets/Standard Assets/Characters/ThirdPersonCharacter/Scripts/ThirdPersonUserControl.cs(3,27): error CS0234: The type or namespace name
CrossPlatformInput' does not exist in the namespace
UnityStandardAssets'. Are you missing an assembly reference?
I've tried searching for the UnityStandardAssets folder, but cannot seem to find it within the Project Editor or the windows folder. For some reason, I'm thinking I didn't enable all the right gems at the beginning of my project. (WILL CHECK WHEN I GET HOME).
That being said, all the patient help and constructive criticism is accepted, and happy holidays to everyone!
