Need Help Programming... Please Help! Thanks :)

Sorry guys but once again I must depend on you for advice and guidance!

Within the game I'm creating with a couple of my friends the player must turn on the power manually as the power is out. Once the player has turned on the power I would like a couple of things to happen

1 - I would like lights to come on 2 - I would like a door to become available to open via a key

So my question to you guys is.... How do I go about doing this? Is this a fairly simple thing to do or is it rather advanced? I've no idea because non of us making the game are programmers unfortunately :(

(POSITION OPEN FOR PROGRAMMER!!!!!!)

I've also other small issues such as

1 - How do I get a door to open once a player has acquired a key, walked up to the door and pressed E 2 - I would like to pick up a torch and it then be attached to the player

( I know these small things are all over the web but I've not found an answer that's worked yet so if someone could kindly point me in the right direction? )

Thank you so much to anyone that can help me and my team!

Design questions like this one are not a good fit for Unity Answers. You have multiple technical questions here, plus you have not provided enough detail for anyone to give you an accurate answer.

For example is this first person or a third person game? How does the user turn on the power: Click on a GUI button? Click on a GUITexture? Click on an object in world space? Run into a collider? Set off a trigger?

These are all topics for you to research and learn about. Take them one at a time. If you get stuck, we welcome your specific technical question. Including your script attempt is helpful.

What you're trying to do with this code is rather simple.

Unfortunately, what you're trying to do —create a game without programmers— is quite impossible.

I'd suggest learning some basic programming, since what you're trying to do is really just check to see if a boolean is true or false and then do something with it.

I'd recommend CodeAcademy.com as a good basic programming course.
