Unity 4.2 Crash
I just downloaded Unity 3D. It looks like it will be a big upgrade from the Blender Game Engine!
I tried to add a plane to the scene for ground, and Unity crashed. I reopened it and tried again, same thing. I tried different objects, with the same result. I even tried using Win XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode, which I had seen someone else recommend, to no avail.
I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, with 4GB ram (yeah I know that isn't much) and a Dual Core 1.86GHz. Obviously, I don't have a great system.
Can anyone give me any advice? Thanks in advance!!!
Try uninstalling, re-download the package, and install again.
download the 4.1.5 or whatever the version before 4.2 is.. 4.2 is still buggy

Apparently many people are having problems with v.4.2. There seems to be workaround specific to some Graphic cards as per that post. But 4.2 also crashes for other unknown reasons. In my case, the project that I upgraded from v.4.1.2 runs fine on v.4.2. However, if I click on an object in the Hierarchy pane Unity crashes 100% of the times I tried.
@Blenderite Unity3D is a great game engine!!! Don't be discouraged by this. The level of instability of v.4.2 is an exception not the rule.
Best advice I think comes from rowdyp: install 4.1.5.
