Not sure where to start... Riichi Mahjong game

Hi everyone, I imagine this question get posted all the time so forgive my ignorance please.

I really don't know much of anything about Unity, C#, or Java, but I see all these really fun indie games coming out lately and I hear that a lot of them are being made on Unity. So I guess that's why I'm here.

For my first project I'm wanting to make a riichi mahjong game. I understand that Unity is way more powerful of a platform than a game of that caliber would require, but I hope to get experience with the program to be more prepared for any projects I might move on to past that. I have been reading and watching tutorials on 2D game making in Unity but everything I've found involves a character moving around or recreating pong. A mahjong game wouldn't require any of that, it's just clicking tiles and having things happen based on what was clicked.

So I guess my question is something like: Are there any good "Making your User Interface" tutorials?

I'm so new at this I can't even get my tiles to appear in the scene.

Like I said at the top, I apologize for such a noob question and I'll keep Google-ing in the mean time.

Thanks for any help.

Have 3d tiles! Use raycasts from the mouse position on the screen!

almost all platform games are now made with Unity. it's not "too powerful" which makes no sense.

YOU NEED TO POST AN I$$anonymous$$AGE OF WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO GO. there are an infinite number of "paradigms" for this -- 3d, isometric, 2d, like "solitaire on a PC" .. etc etc.

simply post a new question with one image and say "how do i get started on a game looking like this" Cheers
