Unity Editor and Graphics Card Slow
I just bought a brand new laptop basically for game development using unity. Sucks a $1600 gaming laptop runs like a $300 e-machine laptop. I've tried just about everything and have researched for days before posting.
ASUS G750J Gaming Laptop
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate ( All Updates installed ) Ram: 16gb Processor: Intel Core I7 GPU: Geforce GTX 770M
I've spent my entire weekend trying to make the unity editor work correctly. When i first loaded my project i was getting 130 - 150fps. Now when I load my editor im getting 30 - 5fps. It seems to be not utilizing my gpu.
What I have already tried
Reinstalling my OS ( Make it work for a short period of time then resumes with the same problem)
List item
Reinstalling DirectX
Forced Open GL
Updated my GPU Drivers ( And downgraded trying different versions )
Made sure there is no extra running software that could be slowing down unity
All windows updates are installed

Ok Ok I found the issue looks like when i run on battery i get a low fps like 30 fps. Then as soon as i plug my computer in it jumps back up. I tried it a couple times to make sure. Sure enough thats the issue. I wish i could disable the power save for my graphics card. Funny it was something so simple. Thanks for your time.
Thanks man! $$anonymous$$ore than 3 years later your reply really saved me! I was having such a headache on this and I just had to plug my laptop in! XD

Hm, very strange.
If else fails, try to run it in compatibility mode also, if you shift+controll+esc, check on the memory and cpu usage from the different programs. Finally, you can go to Start --> Run and type MSCONFIG.
in there, you might want to disable any non crucial updates that take place on startup, such as sick google chrome and adobe. I had a similar issue on my desktop, and it was all about the updates or firewall (or anti virus) that were bugging out Unity.
Also, in MSCONFIG, you might want to change the number of processor cores the system uses during start-up, so its quicker on start. By default its one, so that it can run on lowest-end PC, change to two or four, depends how many cores u have
