Border creation algorithm
Hi, guys!
I want to make dynamically generated border between lands on the plain terrain with some "bases" (e.g. alien and human "bases") in the 3d strategy game. Each base has its own "land of influence" so the border should go on the appropriate distance between conflicting bases. If you have played Settlers I,II etc, you should to understand what I actually mean.
So I have an array of base coords and want to get array of polylines, describing these borders.
Please, can you suggest me any solution for it (may be some algorithms or even ready packages). Any help would be appreciated !!!
Thanks.
Sorry, I haven't played any Settlers. Do you mean some kind of selection, transparent thing, or an actual, circular border with a mesh ?
I need something like Voronoi diagram, but more smooth version of it.
For the record -- what you're talking about is very, very difficult and there are no 'ready made" solutions. It's possible there are some solutions for sale in the Asset Store. Did you search there? But it's unlikely they are just what you want.
@Fattie I don't think so this is difficult. For example Voronoi method is enough simple to understand and made by almost anybody.
If it's not so hard, why haven't you made one yourself?

@syclamoth I just don't want to be "bicycle inventor". If there already exist good solution, what the reason of not to use it ?
