how to rope climb

alt text i have a rope thats i can latch onto (be parented to) and swing with it. i make my player into kinematic for this. the rope has 5 joints, each a rigidbody and box colliders which are triggered. My question is how to i climb up and down the rope while its swinging AND also stay close to the rope.

$$anonymous$$e : You need to be able to go from joint x to joint x+1. You can animate the modification of height because the pivot wouldn't be correct and the parenting would fail (the character wouldn't seem to be accurately attached to the rope. I suggest you go from x to x+1 with a Lerp and animate just the hand / feet.

samz : sorry i dont fully understand. so if the users holds the up arrow to climb, i should have the player animate up the rope?

the mass is 1 and the length is....i have no idea to figure that out lol, its an import from maya, its not long tho, scale is 1, 1, 1??? lol
