How do I get Live Feedback in the Animator window to reflect Animations Parameters driven by Uscript taking place during Play?
The question seems a little bit complex so I will break it down as best I can.
Live Feedback is meant to display what state the Animator Controller is up to when you are playing your game inside of Unity to preview it. This is not happening for me.
The parameters that drive the controller are being modified via Uscript instead of using hand scripted code and are causing problems because of this.
I know the animation parameters are being controlled and changed because the character during playback responds to keystrokes launching / blending between animation sequences as if the blend tree was working yet I get no live feedback of this happening.
Please find below a video that demonstrates the situation (I'm also addressing an animation snapping glitch in the video so side tips on this would be also appreciated.. I think the 2 issues may even be related together.)

Previously the top answer worked, however in version 4.2... when I click to select the Animator Controller, the play window loses focus and can't be controlled so then I click back onto the play window and it de-selects the animator controller or it loses focus on being the selected element.

Well, I figured out the new answer to this isn't that different from the previous answer that Tony Provided :
It use to be that you had to select the controller from your assets folder tree to make this work.
To get it working now, you need to choose the Game Object (usually a character) in the Hierarchy panel.
Then in the Inspector, select the Animator Controller you have assigned to this character from the Animator section of the Inspector Properties for the chosen Game Object.
It should then live preview again.

During gameplay, select the Animator Controller. The Animator window only updates if an Animator Controller is selected.
I've updated to 4.2 and this no longer seems to be working just to let other's know so if there is a new solution I would be really happy to get this working again.
