Question by Gautam Bose · Jun 14, 2010 at 04:50 AM · iphoneipadocclusionculling

Ipad version of occlusion culling example project

I was wondering if there was a way of taking the occlusion culling tutorial for the iphone and converting it for the ipad. I think it is just a matter of moving the right control stick over, but any help would be appreciated. THX

I thought Occlusion Culling was a new feature to be released with Unity 3? And isn't occlusion culling pretty expensive? I don't see how that could run well on an iPhone...

Occlusion Culling in Unity 3.0 is a new feature for the desktop/consoles, which uses the Umbra Occlusion culling system. Unity iPhone has it's own Occlusion Culling system that bakes occlusion culling information.

Thats not correct $$anonymous$$urcho. Unity iOS had its own occlusion culling in Unity iPhone 1.x which only existed there, thats correct. But in Unity 3 all platforms use Umbra and the Umbra sPVS thats integrated is baked and static on all platforms as well

Its indeed possible to use it on the iPad or actually any platform you want. Moving the joystick is a matter of changing the values on the corresponding game object and it will be at the right place
