Random Terrain in 2d Game?

I'm making a random terrain generator for my 2d game, But I cant seen to get it right. I need help with creating it. I want it to look similar to this: alt text

So, I basically need to know how to make a terrain that randomly has hills and valleys, that has 3 layers: Grass,Dirt,Stone.
