Creating a shader that shows a texture through a decal
Would anyone know if it is possible to create a shader for the following scenario:
1) Have an object with two textures associated with it where: 2) The object is "hit" with a decal, and the the decal fades after a few, and then: 3) A 2nd texture shows through in only the areas where the decal was visible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for but here is a post that has a blend texture: http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/21447/fading-materials.html It will let you have a top and bottom texture. You could potentially have it setup with an extra variable to use the alpha channel of the "decal" texture for the output of the "base" texture.
Thanks for the suggestion - I'd actually seen this before and didn't know how to incorporate the multiple decals. I also saw these links: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/3345, http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/175692/getpixelsetpixels-or-stencil-eraser-brush.html# but still haven't been able to figure out a solution. I did see something about OTEE and a paint program that might have something but haven't been able to find it, etc. If anyone else has any other ideas, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!
