Help updating unity?

I know this probably has to do more with internet explorer than unity, but I thought you could help me anyways. For some reason when I try to update unity it just goes blank. I've tried refreshing the page, closing unity, and a bunch of other things like changing internet settings. Some help please? Oh, and also will anything get affected if you update during the middle of a project? Thanks.
