exact same for me,
Samsung Galaxy SII
Java JDK,
Android SDK with all platform-tools
and USB drivers
script debug mode enabled.
Though I have no solution I did find something:
In the device manager of Windows makes a difference when my phone is on debug mode and when not. When it's in debug mode the device will appear as "SAMSUNG Android ABD Interface" and as a modem called "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem". Some characteristics are that my pc cant browse through the mobiles folders and also 'KIES' can't connect.
When debug mode is disabled it'll appear as a portable device called "GT-I900" which is the model name. All problems what you would get from putting debug mode on will be solved.
It seems this would be a sollution but it's told that you must have debugging on, which leaves me with a hardly connected device.
I hope this brings us one clue closer to a solution

I have the same problem. With my galaxy tab 10.1. It shows up as "Samsung ADB interface" and shows up if i do "adb devices". I can also build to it form within unity, but just the remote doesnt work. (btw im on win7 64 bit if that makes a dif)
