Storing persistent data
How do you save persistent data like number of times player started game, total time he played etc. Can playerPrefs works with this? or Is there any other solution?

Yes, use PlayerPrefs.
Yes it stores it across closing of the application. For larger amounts of data you can also use standard file I/O classes and write Application.persistentDataPath as the path to the file.
