Question by futureseeker 1 · Feb 25, 2011 at 06:36 AM · performanceoptimizationinstantiation

Why my Prefab's taking long to instantiate?

i was making a simple game, and my prefab robot is taking long to instantiate, but it do instantiate. The problem is it makes the game so laggy and choppy. Is there a way i can fix this?like reduce the size or anything? or maybe the problem is with the RAM i have? (i have 2GB ddr3 btw, and 1gb Vram)

Hope you can enlighten me with this things :) would appreciate it a lot!

How may polys does your prefab have? Do you have a lot (or heavy) scripts that make use of Awake or/ and Update stuff on it? How did you map it ? What are the texture sizes, etc. We need more info.

i have around 15 polys..i made a robot, and it's kind of a messy one so i had a lot of polys :| and i have two materials, purely lamberts.. and i accessed the prefab in the script just in instantiating it and in raycast (to check collision).

i declared a variable Transform to make it easy for me to instantiate.

I hope i could fix this choppy-ness.

the model btw is around 1+ mb, and i scaled it down before dragging as a prefab..will the scaling reduce the problem? Thanks a lot!
