How to recreate shape shifters 3d mechanic

HI I'm trying to make a game but I cannot get the controls just right. Basically I'm trying to recreate the controls from Voodoo's game shape shifters 3d where you slide your finger up or down to change the shape of the game object if anyone can help that would be great.
