Is there a trial version for Android or any way to test my game without spending $1500?

Not that I am aware of. For what it's worth, hoping that your desktop project will build on another platform without any problems is about as common as flipping a coin and having it land on the edge. You're most likely going to spend a bit of time to debug your build and identify the problems.

You might want to try posting something in the Unity Android forum and ask if anyone would be willing to attempt to build your project for Android. FWIW, I've found the people on the forums to be very generious with their time and energy. It wouldn't surprise me if you found someone willing to do it.

If you're really serious about deploying to Android then you should pick up an Android license for Unity. As an indie game developer I know that $1500 is asking a lot. I'm in a similar boat and I made the decision to pass on Android until I get a game that makes me enough money to afford an Android license (and hardward for testing).

It looks like you need Unity Pro AND the Android license, so is it actually $3000 to release on Android?

There's a Android( not pro ) version for $400.

I wonder if I'm ready to upgrade to pro ($1500) will I get to just pay $1100 since I already spent $400 on the base version?
