Recommendations for decrease draw calls?
I am planning a game. I started to write some very basic coding. The game will have random generated levels. There will be different kind of room prefabs, that I'll instantiate with a script. All the rooms will be the same dimension and there will be one floor.
I started with instantiating cubes randomly. There are two different kind of cubes, different materials on each type.
When I ran it, I got 200+ draw calls. The objects were marked as static, but not static batching happens. I parented those objects and I applied the CombineChildren script, it reduced my draw calls to 29 (Anyway I have a capsule (the player) and a plane on the scene, I have a directional light with hard shadows and the generated cubes).
Yeah, these numbers are really good, but I have doubts about it will be good or not for me in the future. (I worry about the CombineChildren mainly.)
Any other way to reduce draw calls on instantiated object without the script? (Also I don't know, what will I do with lightmapping, but that's an other question.)
