Android/iOS Phone as Game Pad

I have to do an Unity application like this one:

http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2011/01/07/unity-3d-gaming-table-uses-android-and-iphone-as-gamepads-video/

In other words, I will have a desktop application and an Android/iOS cellphone that will work like a gamepad for this desktop application. It's kind of the idea of the Nintendo U, I guess. I will have a desktop application, and another application running in the tablet, and I need that them to communicate witch each other. The application running on the tablet is not fixed, like a classic gamepad with directional controls and A B buttons (like we have on the JoyPad project), it's gonna depend on the game, level, etc, so, it will be two differents application in Unity3D, and the first one behavior depends on the second one, what are the player actions. Also, for the first time, it's gonna be multiplayer. Just two applications, one in tablet, another one in the desktop, and the have to communicate with each other.

Well, I've read a lot and researched, thinks like:

http://getjoypad.com/legacy/ -> The problem is 'cause I don't wanna a fix gamepad, it will be like the Nintendo U idea...

http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/174814/using-iphone-as-gamepad-for-standalone.html?sort=oldest

http://download.unity3d.com/support/resources/files/MultiplayerTutorial.pdf -> I guess this is close, but I don't want a server that just control the clients... My master application would be the game at all, and the tablet the game pad...

Any suggestions? Thinks to read? Everything... (:

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

So you want to build 2 apps (or even just 1) which will communicate with each other without using any server.

My hint to you is finding apps that do it already, as a prove of concept, and then elaborate on it.

Here's one: Unity Remote and its source (or at least a version of it). Maybe that's not exactly what you're looking for, since it communicates with Unity Editor rather than another app or itself. But probably you'll find there already almost all you need.

P.S.: seu ingles esta otimo! ;-)
