Blender 2.56a importing still broken?
Hello!
I have been exporting my Blender models as .fbx and just importing those into Unity for a while now (Since the first 2.5 release), but I just saw that with 2.56 (Now 2.56a) the direct importing of .blend files was fixed! Looking forward to try it out, I installed the new version and tried saving the .blend file into my project's assets folder, however when it tried importing, I was told "Blender could not convert the .blend file to FBX file". Any ideas? I am using the Indie version of Unity, if it makes a difference.

I'm having the same exact problem too, I was very excited to see that Unity 3.2 supports direct importing from blender 2.56+, but it does not work for me either (Windows7 64bits)

You have to use Unity 3.2 + Blender 2.56 in order to get direct import working.
IIRC, it is recommended to install Blender with default install options, otherwise Python libraries might not be installed correctly.
Thanks, but I am running Unity 3.2, and I just re-installed Blender 2.56a, default settings, same problem. :(

I have this exact problem as well. I have even tried making a simple model in blender 2.49b and it still doesn't work
