There are many reasons for which someone wouldn't want to update to Unity 4 yet. $$anonymous$$y personal rule would be to never upgrade to new Unity versions (eg, 3 to 4 or 2 to 3) mid-project. As a lot of things tend to break. I learned that the hard way after upgrading from 2.6 to 3.0.

i totally agree with Professor Snake as that is exactly my case. Thank you alucardj for the links but i was looking for more straight answers though as i had already gone thru them.

What do you consider as more straight as the official docs on draw call batching? Batching is a quite complex topic but Unity does most things for you. All you need to know is under what conditions it will work. The docs are already quite detailed about that.
