can't get fbx animation to play
I'm having trouble with an fbx model that comes with unsplit animations. After I import the model I cannot seem to play the animation called "all" which is supposedly 659 frames. Is there any way to play the animations from the inspector to see if they imported correctly.
Afterwards I make a prefab and add an animator component. I choose the "walk" split I made earlier and play automatically and still no animations play.
How do I see the animations working from the inspector.
Hi Guys I am new to unity , just wanted to play animation of fbx file, which are exported through maya 2011 (a car door open/close keyframe animation). I have animated the door in maya and exported as animated FBX format. but when i import it in unity 5, it shows geometry, also plays animation in preview window, but doesn't play in game window. don't know what to and how to do it. It needs to be rigged with bones? i turned on Legacy option under "Rig" tab. Prefab also shows "Take 001" as animation. Dont know what i am missing. Please help. Thanks in advance.

I had to set the import settings for the fbx model in unity inspector under rig->Animation type-> to legacy.
didn't work for me, when i instantiate my fbx, the animator just doesn't play anything at all, the character just stays in T-pose forever. I've tries changing those settings as well as some other configurations with no success

I know this is a years late, but make sure your model is in Pose Position
and not Rest Position
when you export to fxb.
