Question by Joshua4missions · Aug 04, 2013 at 09:04 PM · blender.fbx

Is it even possible to import a model with a material.

Hello all,

This is a pressing issue I've had for over a week. I CAN NOT get an imported cube to include it's material. I've imported the cube as a .blend, .obj, .3ds, and.fbx file type and I constantly get the ugly grey default material. It is really stressing me out.

Here's How I Set It Up: Mark Seams and Unwrap default cube in Blender Export UV layout Create UV map inside Photoshop CS5, and save Map newly created UV map inside Blender - renders perfect Export as .fbx/.3ds. Import New Asset inside of Unity. Fell depressed because all I have is an ugly gray cube.

So how in the world of Unity do I get the imported model to be auto associated with the material I had in Blender.

Side question: When I UV map a image to a cube in Blender, is that a "Material? or a "Texture"?

Thanks in advance for any help offered. :)

Have a great day!

-Joshua4missions

Are you using an custom shaders or materials, like from some 3rd party? Or just standard materials? UV's are stored in the mesh, textures and materials are stored (imported) as textures and materials. $$anonymous$$ake sure Textured is set on the Scene panel. Does it look the same if you Run it?

I'm using just Blender 2.67b, no addons.

I only add a new material for Rendering purposes inside of Blender. -Add New $$anonymous$$aterial -Option-->Check Face Textures

If I render the block inside of Unity after only dragging it into the scene it is the default material.
