Image is not transparent
I had the same error in the past, but now i can't just ignore it, i NEED this image to turn transparent. I made a door image's background transparent, but when i apply transparent shaders on it, in Unity, the background still is white, no matter if i change the texture to normal, or 2d sprite!
The image is in PNG. I tried all the other formats and the error persists. I made it transparent using Photoshop, and nothing. Then i tried another programs i have here and still nothing. What am i supposed to do?

Never mind, i think Unity was thinking my background was supposed to be black, so it LITERALLY changed it somehow. I made some changes in the transparency again to fit the new configuration and it's working fine now.

Make sure your import setting is correct.
This option is not shown to me in any format. $$anonymous$$aybe my Unity just bugged...
Can you show me your inspector when the image is selected?
I see now. It seems that Unity will not let me use the transparency somehow. Alpha from Grayscale is disabled and if i turn it on, the door itself turns disfugured and the transparency is applied IN the door, not in the white background that is actually transparent.
What you could do is as @NickWu asked and show us what texture import settings you're using...
