Maintaining Maya binary prefab connection
I am finding it impossible to get a prefab containing an automatically imported maya binary to reflect the changes that occur to the binary after the prefab is made. The same problem occurs with maya ascii and FBX. My process is as follows:
Save
maya_scene.mb
in Assets folder, allowing unity to auto-import it.Drag into a Unity scene
Change original
.mb
, and save (this works fine, no prefabs involved)Create empty GameObject and parent the
.mb
object to itSave the GameObject as a prefab by dragging into Project window.
Change original
.mb
once more, and save.
Now this is the stage where something goes wrong. Nothing happens! The prefab doesn't change. The updates aren't carried through. Everything I've read online says this shouldn't happen, but it does for me! Could anyone suggest how to debug this?
