iOS on Windows
Hi, So I've read many questions on iOS development on Windows. I see that I will need a Macmini or similar to compile my code but what I can't find is a clear answer on how to begin development using Unity. I'm using the latest build of Unity (as ot this writing 3/30/2012), and am unable to even select iOS as a Platform in Windows. Am I supposed to continue development under PC (or another platform), switch to the Mac, then switch platforms? This seems like a poor solution...
I would greatly appreciate if someone could clarify for me, thanks!

You can't select the iOS platform on Windows. You can't develop for iOS properly using only Windows. What you can do is use the editor player for the majority of your development, it should mostly be the same. Then you will need to switch to a Mac to compile onto a device. This is easier if you're using Pro and an Asset Server. Otherwise it will be a pain.
If you are planning to release only on iOS then I would recommend to do your development on the Mac.
You could try and go the dual boot method I guess. At least then it'll be all on one machine, but it'll still be a pain to switch between the two. I do wish we could develop for iOS on a PC :(
I got hope from your answer, I really want to develop games on iOS. Learning to develop on Windows is only the same as learning to iOS development ? To be clear codes is not different ?

Does a Virtual OSX drive work for iOS development? That would be pretty simple to setup...

Hi guys,
Just so I'm clear on this as it may be a deal breaker as far as Unity is concerned;
Can I open up a Unity Project on a Mac, which was originally created on Windows? If so, can I simply build it to iOS at that point?
Basically, I'm wondering whether I can do all the work on a Window system, then simply open up the project on a Mac just to do the final Build process for iOS?
Cheers!

You can compile on a Mac Virtual Machine. Make sure your OS is updated and your Xcode too. Compiling for the simulator is easy enough - just select iOS Simulator in the player options and you're good to go.
Compiling on the device, however, requires you paying the annual developer fee, and installing the key on the Keystore. I don't know if there is any drawback to installing that key on the virtual machine.
