Setting up Unity asset server on Windows 8
I am trying to install asset server on Windows 8 and unfortunately it's not working. Does the unity asset server not support Windows 8 yet or am I missing something?
What exactly is the problem that you are seeing? Are you getting an error message?
I have the same issue. I get the following error:
Could not log in to localhost role "ad$$anonymous$$" does not exist
I still cant use the asset server. When I run it in WIndows 8 the service stops straight away. So basically in unity the connection always fails with:
Could not log in to localhost could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 10733?

Re-Install the Asset server. This should fix the issue
For me it worked on third re-install, will let the Unity team know about this issue.
Has this solved the issue softready? If yes, please accept this answer.
on my windows 8 computer it took a few times as well
I re installed which kind of fixed it but TBH I still get problems every so often. To fix I just go to services and restart which seems to do the trick these days.
Was skeptical of this solution, but it actually did work on the third try for some reason.
Every time I restart it, it's like starting my old car. It tends to work on the 3rd or 4th go. :)
